Between August 1 and 5, 2015, and again on August 22 and 23, heavy rains caused severe flooding in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The floods, exacerbated by Typhoon Goni, affected several provinces, including south Hwanghae, north and south Hamgyong, and the northeastern city of Rason. The floods resulted in significant damage and loss across more than 25 cities and counties.
